1 Thessalonians 5:14-22

peace lily
My new peace lily at the kitchen sink.

Our great and glorious God, I pray that our family would compassionately warn those who are idle and not be idle ourselves, that we would encourage the timid and take courage ourselves, that we would seek and act on opportunities to help the weak, and that we would be patient with everyone. Keep us from repaying wrong for wrong and teach our family how to show kindness to each other and everyone else. May we always be joyful, prayerful, and thankful in all circumstances, which we recognize is God's will for us in Christ Jesus. We pray that we will not put out the Spirit's fire nor treat prophecies with contempt. Help us to test everything and hold on to that which is good. Show us how to avoid every kind of evil.

Paraphrased into prayer form.
